First Impressions
Pulling up to Anantara The Marker Dublin on Grand Canal Square, you immediately get a sense that this place means business — in the best possible way. The building has this striking, almost theatrical presence against the waterfront, and honestly, it sets the tone before you’ve even walked through the door. Dublin has no shortage of places to stay, but this five-star property feels like it belongs in a different conversation entirely.
Location & Neighbourhood
Grand Canal Square is one of those spots in Dublin that locals actually love, which tells you a lot. You’re in the Docklands — a neighbourhood that’s buzzing with energy, full of good restaurants and creative spaces, yet still just a short walk or tram ride from the city centre. Couples especially seem to fall for this location, and you can see why — there’s something genuinely romantic about evening walks along the canal with the city lights reflecting off the water. The location score here sits at 9.2 for couples, and that tracks completely.
The Rooms
Sleep is something this hotel takes seriously, and you’ll feel it the moment you get into bed. The mattresses are genuinely exceptional — the kind where you wake up and think, well, I could stay here another three nights without any convincing. The rooms themselves carry that quiet, understated luxury that the best five-star properties tend to get right — nothing feels overdone or showy, just carefully considered. Natural light, thoughtful design, and enough space to actually breathe.
Breakfast
Breakfast here is one of those meals you’ll find yourself looking forward to the night before. The spread covers a lot of ground — full Irish (obviously, you’re in Dublin), continental options, American-style, and solid choices for vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free guests too. It’s buffet-style, so you can graze at your own pace, which I always appreciate. Honestly, it’s the kind of breakfast that makes you push your checkout as late as possible.
Why Guests Love It
One thing that stood out to me about this hotel is how many guests come back. Repeat visitors here are notably higher than at most comparable properties, and that’s not something that happens by accident — it means the experience consistently delivers. There’s a certain confidence that comes with a place that doesn’t need to oversell itself; Anantara The Marker Dublin just quietly gets things right, time after time. Parking is available on-site too, which is worth knowing if you’re driving into the city — Dublin parking can be a headache, so having that sorted is a genuine relief. With a guest rating of 8.9 overall, this is a hotel that earns its reputation rather than just resting on it.

Beautiful modern and comfortable, flawless after our hiccup on our arrival. What could be improved: Being told there was no tables for a meal after driving for 3 hours in the car, then being told we could not even sit in bar area and wait for a table to come free, I admit it was just handled poorly but in the end we got sorted after our...

The room, the staff, the breakfast, everything was exceptional. Everyone was very well trained so the service was simply top notch.

The spa could use a little TLC - many tiles were missing in the steam room and some jets in the jacuzzi were broken. This did not impact our stay but an hotel of this caliber should fix it asap

Beautiful location and amazing food and facilities.

Every member of staff was friendly, kind, warm and helpful! It is very rare to find that in a hotel. They made our New Year’s Eve stay wonderful and so much fun! Spa was gorgeous. Rooms were spacious, warm and comfortable. Room service food was delicious! They let us get onto the roof bar for the fireworks and had champagne too! Absolutely perfect...

The breakfast very good, not only a buffet choice but also a menu with alternatives.
The friendliness of the staff.

Could be improved
The decor in our room was dark and lighting poor.
