First Impressions
When I first pulled up to La Signoria & Spa, honestly, I wasn’t prepared for just how stunning this place would be. This five-star luxury retreat sits tucked away in the hills above Calvi, and the approach through the winding forest road builds anticipation perfectly. The property feels like stepping into an old Corsican dream — stone buildings that look centuries old but with that polished elegance you expect from a top-tier hotel.
The Setting
What really struck me was the location — you’re surrounded by this incredible forest setting, but you can still catch glimpses of the Mediterranean through the trees. The grounds are extensive, actually much larger than I expected, with pathways winding between Mediterranean gardens and ancient olive groves. You know what’s brilliant? They’ve managed to keep that authentic Corsican character while delivering serious luxury — it’s not easy to pull off, but they do it.
Accommodations and Dining
My room had this wonderful terrace overlooking the valley, and the design struck the perfect balance between rustic charm and modern comfort. The stone walls and wooden beams give you that historic feel, but everything else — from the marble bathroom to the premium bedding — screams contemporary luxury. The main restaurant serves exceptional Corsican cuisine with a refined twist, and I mean, when you’re sitting on that terrace at sunset with a glass of local wine, it’s pretty hard to complain about anything.
Wellness and Activities
The spa here deserves special mention — it’s built into the natural landscape in this really thoughtful way, using local stone and offering treatments that incorporate Corsican botanicals. For horse riding enthusiasts, this is where La Signoria really shines. They have their own stables with well-trained horses, and the trails through the Bonifato forest are absolutely spectacular. The guides know every path and can tailor rides whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced rider looking for more challenging terrain.

Beautiful location, spacious room even if the decor is a little dated. Great breakfast, excellent dinner at the gourmet restaurant. Very friendly staff.
What could be improved: Could hear the people next door from our room. I did not like that you could smoke at the restaurant (on the terrace) and at the pool.

we stayed in the treehouse. This was very tastefully decorated with a beautiful balcony and equally beautiful view. the entire resort is spacious and surrounded by a lot of greenery / a large garden.
