Sheen Falls Lodge Overview
First Impressions
You know that moment when you round a bend and suddenly understand why a place has a reputation? That’s exactly what happens when you first glimpse Sheen Falls Lodge. This five-star property sits alongside the cascading Sheen Falls in Kenmare, and honestly, the setting alone justifies the journey to County Kerry. The main lodge building has this stately Victorian elegance that somehow feels both grand and welcoming — not an easy balance to strike, but they’ve nailed it.
The Equestrian Experience
What really sets this place apart for horse enthusiasts is how seamlessly they’ve woven riding into the luxury experience. The stables are actually just a short walk from the main lodge, housing well-trained horses that know these Kerry mountains better than most locals. I mean, when you’re cantering through ancient oak woodlands with views of Kenmare Bay stretching out below, you understand why this region has such a pull on people. The guides know exactly which trails offer the best photo opportunities — and more importantly, which ones your horse will enjoy most.
Rooms and Comfort
Each room here tells its own story, but they all share that luxurious Irish warmth that’s hard to fake. My suite overlooked the falls themselves, and falling asleep to the sound of rushing water never gets old. The bathrooms are particularly impressive — deep soaking tubs where you can ease those post-riding muscles while watching the mist rise from the river below. The attention to detail is remarkable too, from locally-sourced toiletries to thick Irish linens that make you want to extend your checkout time.
Dining and Local Flavors
The main restaurant takes full advantage of Kerry’s incredible produce — we’re talking about lamb that’s grazed on these very hillsides and seafood pulled from Kenmare Bay that morning. But what impressed me most was how they’ve adapted the menu for guests who’ve been out riding all day. You can get a proper hearty meal at 3 PM without any fuss, which honestly saved my afternoon more than once. The wine list leans heavily into French selections that pair beautifully with the Irish ingredients.
Why Guests Love It
There’s something almost magical about combining world-class luxury with authentic Irish hospitality and serious equestrian opportunities. The staff genuinely care about matching you with the right horse and the perfect trail — whether you want a gentle meander through the estate grounds or a challenging trek up into the McGillycuddy’s Reeks. Plus, the spa treatments after a long day in the saddle are nothing short of therapeutic. The location gives you easy access to the Ring of Kerry, but honestly, you might find yourself reluctant to leave the estate at all.

Beautiful location beside Kenmare surrounded by water and the stunning falls. The hotel was so relaxing and charming. We stayed just before Christmas and all the decorations, trees and driveway beautifully lined with lights really made it extra special. We stayed in room 218 with a beautiful view out over the lake. The room was so spacious and...
Ingela from United Kingdom (13 December 2025)
Felt very pampered with rooms kept spotless and continually replenished with towels etc even at turndown.
What could be improved: Felt feature curtains could have been full width of window rather than just looking at blackout curtains. WiFi poor in our room. Food could have been hotter.
Ciara from Ireland (8 December 2025)

Services including massages, spa and indoor pool Bar overlooking the falls is very comfortable, with excellent food and drinks. Stables restaurant was good Late check out enabled us to maximise our use of the facilities and enjoy the property. What could be improved: Service was a bit slow in the bar. I will have to come back for a longer stay...
