Post Hotel & Spa
First Impressions
The Post Hotel & Spa sits right in the heart of Lake Louise, and honestly, the location alone makes this four-star property worth considering. I mean, you’re literally steps away from some of the most stunning mountain scenery in the Canadian Rockies. The building itself has this rustic-meets-refined vibe that feels authentically Canadian without being kitschy — think exposed timber beams and stone accents that actually complement the surrounding wilderness rather than trying to compete with it.
Location & Setting
What really struck me about this place is how it manages to feel secluded while being incredibly accessible. You’re on Pipestone Road, which puts you close enough to the lake that you can easily walk there, but far enough from the main tourist crowds that you get some peace and quiet. The couples who stay here absolutely love it (they rate the location 9.6, which honestly doesn’t surprise me), and I can see why — there’s something romantic about waking up to mountain views and having world-class hiking trails practically at your doorstep. Plus, there’s parking included, which is actually a bigger deal than you might think in this area.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in had that perfect balance of comfort and mountain lodge charm. You know what I appreciated? The attention to detail — quality linens, thoughtful lighting, and windows that actually frame the scenery like artwork. The beds are genuinely comfortable (not just hotel-marketing comfortable), and the bathrooms feel spacious without being wasteful. Some rooms have fireplaces, and if you can swing one of those, do it — there’s nothing quite like unwinding by a fire after a day of exploring the Rockies.
Dining & Amenities
The breakfast buffet here is actually impressive — not just your standard continental spread, but quality options that fuel you properly for mountain activities. The restaurant serves dinner that’s a step above typical hotel fare, with dishes that incorporate local ingredients without being overly precious about it. The spa is where this place really shines though — after hiking or skiing, those treatment rooms become your best friend. I spent a good chunk of one afternoon there, and it felt like exactly what my tired muscles needed.
Why Guests Love It
Look, Lake Louise gets busy during peak season, but the Post Hotel & Spa manages to feel like a retreat even when the area is crawling with tourists. Recent guests consistently rate it highly (8.9 overall), and I think it’s because the staff genuinely knows the area and can point you toward the less crowded trails or the best times to visit the lake. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in the Rockies — it’s just doing everything really well, from the comfortable accommodations to the genuine mountain hospitality that makes you want to extend your stay.

The hotel was great. Arrived on a snowy night and it was magical pulling up to the hotel. Paths cut in the deep snow through the property almost like a maze. The staff was great. The breakfast was great. We enjoyed the causal pub restaurant. Super relaxing to sit in the lounge and listen to the piano. What could be improved: More shuttles in the...

The pool hot tub and steam room area was fantastic as were the on-site restaurants. The Post Dining room was amazing. We appreciated the extra touches like tea time and mulled wine for guests in the afternoon and freshly brewed coffee in the mornings near our room. The sitting area overlooking the ice rink was so cozy my husband fell asleep in the...

The holiday decor was warm and inviting. The dining room - both for dinner and for breakfast - was amazing, out of this world. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with good showers.

The spa services were outstanding. Thomas was an excellent masseuse and the hot stone massage was the best I have ever had.

The boiler went out and their back up plan could have been better serviced so it did not fail.

Went with my wife as part of our honeymoon trip and wanted to stay near lake louise. The price was fair. We felt that they cared we are on our honeymoon. Shuttle service to lake louise was very convenient. The room was great for couples with a large jet bathtub.
