What sets this place apart is how seamlessly they’ve woven horse riding into the entire experience. The stables are just a short walk from your room, and I mean, you can literally hear the gentle sounds of horses from some of the accommodations — which is either incredibly romantic or slightly distracting, depending on your perspective. The riding trails wind through lavender fields and vineyard-dotted hills that make the Luberon region so famous. Their guides actually know these paths like the back of their hand, pointing out hidden Roman ruins and the best spots to catch sunrise over the valley.

Rooms and Comfort

The accommodations strike that perfect balance between rustic and comfortable — exposed stone walls meet modern bathrooms, and thank goodness for that because I’m all for authenticity until I need a proper shower. Each space feels different; some have those dramatic vaulted ceilings while others open directly onto the courtyard where you’ll often find horses being led to and from the stables. The beds are seriously comfortable, which matters more than you’d think after a full day in the saddle.

The on-site restaurant serves up exactly what you’d hope for in this part of France — seasonal Provençal dishes that change based on what’s growing in the surrounding countryside. I still dream about their ratatouille (yes, it’s a real thing beyond the Pixar movie), and the wine selection showcases some incredible local vintages you’d never find back home. Breakfast on the terrace while watching the morning mist lift off the Vaucluse mountains? That’s the kind of moment that makes you question why you don’t travel more often.

Why Guests Love It

Lagnes itself is one of those blink-and-you’ll-miss-it Provençal villages, but that’s exactly the point — you’re far enough from the tourist crowds yet close enough to explore places like Isle-sur-la-Sorgue or even venture to Avignon for a day trip. The hotel provides secure parking, which honestly saved me from the stress of navigating narrow village streets with a rental car. What really won me over was how the staff treats both guests and horses with equal care — there’s something genuine about a place where the stable master knows every horse’s personality and the front desk remembers how you like your morning coffee.
