Villa Abbazia Relais & Chateaux Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Villa Abbazia Relais & Chateaux feels like stepping into someone’s beautifully preserved family estate — which, honestly, isn’t far from the truth. This five-star property sits right on Piazza 4 Novembre in the heart of Follina, and you can’t miss the way it seamlessly blends into the medieval architecture around it. The building itself has this understated elegance that whispers luxury rather than shouting it, which I actually prefer. You know what struck me most? How quiet everything feels despite being right in the town center.
The Setting
Follina is one of those Veneto gems that most people drive past on their way to bigger destinations — their loss, really. The hotel overlooks this charming piazza where locals still gather in the evenings, and you’re literally steps from the stunning Cistercian Abbey that dates back to the 12th century. What I love is that you can walk to everything worth seeing in about five minutes, but when you want to explore the Prosecco hills or Venice (about an hour away), you’ve got parking right at the hotel. That’s actually a huge deal in this part of Italy, trust me.
Accommodations
My room had this perfect balance of historical character and modern comfort that’s surprisingly hard to find. The ceilings were high, the furnishings felt authentically Italian without being stuffy, and the bathroom — well, let’s just say they know how to do marble properly here. I mean, you’re staying in a converted abbey, so there’s this sense of history in every corner, but they’ve managed to add contemporary touches without ruining the atmosphere. The beds are seriously comfortable, and the linens have that crisp, expensive feel that makes you want to stay in bed just a little longer.
Dining Experience
The restaurant here is honestly something special — and I’m not just saying that because I’m a sucker for good Italian food. They source ingredients locally, which in this region means incredible produce from the surrounding hills and valleys. Breakfast is this wonderful spread of continental and Italian options, plus they do a proper buffet if you’re the type who likes to try everything (guilty as charged). The staff actually knows their wine list, which matters when you’re in Prosecco country, and they’re happy to recommend pairings that make sense.
Why Guests Love It
There’s something about this place that just works — maybe it’s the way the staff treats you like a welcomed guest rather than a transaction, or how couples seem to find their own little corners of romance throughout the property. The location scores speak for themselves, but what the numbers don’t capture is how peaceful everything feels here. You’re getting genuine luxury without the pretense, authentic Italian hospitality, and a base for exploring one of the most beautiful (and underrated) parts of the Veneto. Plus, when you can park for free and walk to a 12th-century abbey for your morning coffee, well — that’s the kind of travel experience that sticks with you.

Incredible atmosphere and coziness.
The staff is very friendly and kind. They looked after us so well that we didn't have to think about anything.
I would recommend the trips they organize and the prosecco tour. The cooking master class was an unforgettable experience.

The staff was very attentive and welcoming at all times. The decor was beautiful and the grounds equally so. The Michelin rated restaurant was worth every euro and the setting was absolutely beautiful. The hotel is just simply gorgeous. What could be improved: There was no shelf in the shower to put any of our personal shampoos, etc. The room...
