Park Hotel Kenmare Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Park Hotel Kenmare feels like stepping into someone’s elegant Irish country home — if that someone happened to have impeccable taste and a serious budget. This five-star Victorian property sits right on Shelbourne Street, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better. You’re literally in the heart of Kenmare, which means you can walk to everything worth seeing in this charming Ring of Kerry town.
The Equestrian Experience
What drew me here initially was their horse riding program, and they really deliver on that front. The hotel partners with local stables that know these Kerry mountains like the back of their hand — you’ll find yourself trotting through ancient oak woodlands and along trails that offer views of Kenmare Bay that’ll make you stop mid-conversation. The guides actually grew up around here, so they share stories about the area that you’d never get from a guidebook. I mean, where else would you learn about the hidden fairy forts scattered throughout the countryside?
Luxury Accommodations
My room overlooked the bay, and I spent way too much time just staring out at the water. The décor strikes this perfect balance between traditional Irish elegance and modern luxury — think antique furnishings that don’t feel stuffy, and bathrooms with those deep soaking tubs you actually want to use after a day in the saddle. The beds are ridiculously comfortable, which you’ll appreciate after bouncing around on horseback for hours.
Dining and Amenities
The hotel’s restaurant focuses on local Kerry ingredients, and their lamb is something special — probably because you can see the fields where it was raised right from your table. Breakfast runs until a civilized 10:30, which is perfect when you’re on vacation and don’t want to rush. There’s also a cozy bar where locals actually hang out, not just hotel guests, which always tells you something about a place. The spa treatments use seaweed from the nearby coast, and after trying their signature facial, I understood why people rave about Irish skincare.
Why Guests Love It
What sets Park Hotel Kenmare apart is how it manages to feel both luxurious and authentically Irish without trying too hard at either. The staff genuinely seems to enjoy working there — they’ll chat about the best spots for a pint in town or help arrange extra riding sessions if you’re hooked on exploring the countryside. Parking is handled by the hotel, which saves you from navigating Kenmare’s narrow streets with a rental car. It’s the kind of place where you plan to stay three nights and end up wishing you’d booked five.

Immaculate Hotel in a pristine and beautiful setting. The rooms were spacious. The staff were fantastic and the restaurant on site was superb. Nothing but good things to say.

Everything! From the touch of bubbles and cake on arrival, to the beautiful bedroom suite with garden view m, to the exceptional staff who pulled out all of the stops to ensure I had the perfect wedding morning.
What could be improved: There was a smell from the taps which filled my room. Took running of the taps to get rid of it.
Stephanie from Ireland (13 October 2025)
Loved the setting, beautiful walks and very convenient to the town. The staff were so helpful and very well mannered.
What could be improved: I feel the decor is dull and needs a lift. The bath needs a handle to help olderr people to get out. It is very expensive.
Bronwen from United States (22 September 2025)
The staff went above and beyond greeting us, handwritten card in room on arrival, service was exemplary, all around impressive.
What could be improved: nothing, it was wonderful from start to finish.

The hotel is beautiful, my room was very spacious and comfortable. The gardens were also well maintained and cared for. What could be improved: My staff was good, the hotel certainly is beautiful. However, I had order a room with a balcony and given one that did not. Though at check-out I was told the room assigned was an upgrade, I was...
