House of Jasmines Relais & Châteaux Overview

First Impressions

You know what hits you first about House of Jasmines Relais & Châteaux? The silence. I mean, this five-star property sits just six kilometers outside Salta along Ruta Nacional 51, but it feels like you’ve entered another world entirely. The jasmine-scented air is real — not some marketing gimmick — and when you walk through those colonial-style corridors, you actually understand why Relais & Châteaux chose this place for their exclusive collection.

The Riding Experience

Honestly, the horseback riding here is something else. The guides know these Andean foothills like the back of their hand, taking you through trails that wind past vineyards and toward those dramatic red rock formations that make this part of Argentina so stunning. What I loved is how they match horses to your experience level — no pretense, just genuine care about making sure you’re comfortable in the saddle. The morning rides are particularly magical when the light hits the Lerma Valley just right.

Luxury Done Right

Your room here isn’t just accommodation — it’s part of the experience. The suites blend colonial architecture with serious luxury touches, and each one has these massive windows that frame the mountain views perfectly. The beds are ridiculous (in the best way), and the bathrooms feel like personal spas with those deep soaking tubs. There’s something about falling asleep to complete silence after a day in the saddle that just works.

Culinary Highlights

The restaurant focuses heavily on local Salta flavors, which means incredible empanadas, perfectly grilled beef, and wines from nearby Cafayate that you probably can’t get back home. Chef knows his stuff — breakfast includes fresh regional fruits and house-made breads that honestly make it hard to leave for morning rides. Dinner service feels intimate rather than stuffy, which is exactly what you want after spending the day outdoors.

Why Guests Love It

What sets this place apart is how seamlessly everything connects — the riding, the luxury amenities, the location, even the staff who seem genuinely happy to share their corner of Argentina with you. Parking is never an issue if you’re driving from Salta city, and the property offers transfers that make sense. With a 9.5 rating, it’s clear other travelers have discovered what makes this boutique gem special: authentic experiences wrapped in understated elegance, where the horses are as well-cared-for as the guests.

Every detail throughly thought. Decoration was unbelievable. Food excellent. Will come back!

Food and service top class

What could be improved: I noticed no fan in the bedroom so in very hot weather one has no alternative but to use air conditioning which I detest. This was not a problem this trip as the weather was not very hot

It’s a beautiful place, lovely staff and great restaurant. Overall a very nice place

What could be improved: I stayed in a Suit with connecting doors to another room. The last night of the stay there was a couple in the room and i could hear every word they were saying. It was like they are in my room.

Staff were genuine and all lovely, fun people. Made us feel 100% welcome, and in a genuine way. Looked like they liked to work there. Not invasive, not fussing too much, just there when you needed. A number of lovely lounge spaces in the main house. Lots of character and charm everywhere. We were in one of the suites in one of the buildings 50m...

A number of lovely lounge spaces in the main house. Lots of character and charm everywhere. We were in one of the suites in one of the buildings 50m from the main house. Wonderfully quiet. Lovely room - practical, but with space and character. Good bed too. Lovely terrace facing south, which was perfect for the time of year (end of May).

The gardens are LARGE and it feels wonderful to have all that space! Stunning uninterrupted views to the hills in the distance. Lunch and dinner fantastic. Brekkie good too.

The pool was LOVELY! And we were fortunate to have it all to ourselves the day we used it. Heated. Clean. Decent size. Good condition. Again, uninterrupted views to the hills. And actually looks a lot nicer in real life than in the photos (my opinion). They've traded-up the loungers to being beautiful wooden ones, which adds "warmth" and appeal to the setup. Fresh towels in a basket, waiting for you to use the pool. Lovely!

Lunch and dinner were fantastic! The food and drink is as you'd expect - top notch.

We used the spa - which is a decent walk (probably 200m?) back towards the entrance to the estate. But it's very nicely done in there. We didn't have any "treatments", just went for sauna and steam room, which were as you'd expect. You just wander down there, grab a towel, there's a changing area and cupboards to hang clothes etc. All very relaxed and pleasant.

A wonderful place to stay - and not leave - for days! Thoroughly recommend!

What could be improved: Nothing to report 🙂

The staff is both charming and highly competent, making every moment special. The property offers fantastic amenities—horseback riding, a heated pool, and plenty of games to enjoy. Amazing facilities, stunning views, great service and excellent food.

Chantal from Canada (20 February 2025)

Beautiful property, nice garden, pool, very comfortable bed.

What could be improved: Food. Restaurant is terrible. Breakfast good, but dinners (twice) not at level of what you could expect from such a hotel. Chicken, porc and fish way overcooked, and everything overly salty. Not a good experience.
