Hotel Savoy Palace Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Hotel Savoy Palace feels a bit like stepping into someone’s elegant family home — if that family happened to own prime real estate on Lake Garda’s most coveted stretch. The lobby has this old-world charm that’s been carefully maintained without feeling stuffy, and honestly, the staff greets you like they’ve been expecting you specifically. You can tell this four-star property has been around long enough to know what works.
Location & Setting
The hotel sits right on Via Zanardelli in Gardone Riviera, which is basically the golden mile of this lake town. You’re literally a two-minute walk from the waterfront promenade, and I mean that — I timed it. What’s brilliant is that you can stroll to the botanical gardens of Heller Garden or catch the ferry to other lake towns without any fuss. The horse riding facilities they partner with are about fifteen minutes away in the hills behind town, where the trails offer those postcard views of the lake you see everywhere but never quite believe are real.
The Room Experience
My room overlooked the lake, though honestly, even the garden-view rooms are lovely since the property’s gardens are quite something. The decor walks that fine line between classic and updated — think quality fabrics and solid furniture that doesn’t creak when you sit down. The bathroom was spacious enough that I didn’t feel like I was performing gymnastics to shower, which sadly isn’t always a given in Italian hotels, even nice ones.
Dining & Amenities
The restaurant here deserves a mention because they actually source ingredients locally, and you can taste the difference in something as simple as the tomatoes at breakfast. Speaking of breakfast, it’s served on the terrace when weather permits, and there’s something quite civilized about starting your day with fresh pastries while looking out at the lake. There’s also parking available, which in Gardone Riviera is worth its weight in gold during peak season — trust me on this one.
Why Guests Love It
What makes this place work for horse riding enthusiasts is the combination of location and genuine hospitality. The concierge actually knows the local riding schools and can arrange everything from gentle lakeside trails to more challenging mountain routes. You’ll come back from a morning ride and want nothing more than to sit on their terrace with an Aperol Spritz, watching the ferries chug between towns. It’s that perfect balance of activity and relaxation that makes Lake Garda such a draw, and the Savoy Palace gets the formula just right.

Location wonderful. Pool area lovely.
What could be improved: The hotel needs a little update, a little tired inside.

The design of the hotel. Staff. Breakfast. We only eat once re dinner which was very good but we prefer to eat out. Gardonne was very pretty and very relaxing What could be improved: I did think the gardens would have been bigger with more loungers in the shade. I upgraded my room which was expensive for this purpose. The sun shades need to be...
Maurice from United Kingdom (25 May 2024)
The location was great, with ferries nearby to visit other resorts. What could be improved: Some staff were relatively inexperienced, so you need to be careful. Otherwise everyone was helpful and the holiday went very well. Several good restaurants are nearby, and staff are knowledgeable and willing to advise and make bookings. This is a 4*...
