Henley Park Hotel Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Henley Park Hotel on Massachusetts Avenue feels like stumbling onto a movie set. This four-star boutique property sits in what used to be a 1918 Tudor-style apartment building, and honestly — they’ve kept all the character intact. The gargoyles perched on the facade aren’t just decorative touches; they’re actual architectural details that make you pause and look up from the sidewalk.
The Dupont Circle Advantage
You’re positioned perfectly in Washington‘s Dupont Circle neighborhood, which means you can actually walk places instead of relying on rideshares for everything. The White House is about a 15-minute stroll, and I mean, you’ll pass some great coffee shops and bookstores on the way. What I really appreciate is being close to the Metro without the chaos of staying right downtown — you get the best of both worlds here.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in had this old-world charm that you don’t find in newer hotels. High ceilings, period details, and furniture that actually looks like it belongs rather than being chosen from a generic catalog. The bathrooms are updated enough to be functional (good water pressure, which matters), but they haven’t stripped away the building’s original character. You know what surprised me? How quiet it was, even with Massachusetts Avenue right outside.
Dining and Daily Rhythms
Coeur de Lion, the on-site restaurant, serves solid American cuisine in a setting that feels like an English manor house. I had dinner there one night and the atmosphere was intimate without being stuffy — perfect for a business dinner or date night. Breakfast is continental style, nothing fancy, but the coffee is good and you’re not fighting crowds. There’s also room service if you prefer to eat in your robe while planning your day.
Why Guests Keep Coming Back
What sets this place apart is the attention to detail and the fact that it feels like a real neighborhood hotel rather than a corporate chain. The staff genuinely seems to care about your stay, and the building itself tells a story that generic hotels can’t match. The 8.5 rating makes sense when you factor in the location, the historic charm, and the fact that you’re getting boutique hotel service without the boutique hotel attitude. It’s the kind of place where you’ll actually remember your stay months later — and not just because of the gargoyles.

What could be improved: Valet scratched my rims lol
Brianna from United States (January 27, 2026)
Loved the staff, room, comfort and cleanliness of the space. Wish I'd requested a room that was on the other side of the hotel away from all the road noise that occurs in the morning. Overall a great experience and I'll certainly come back. What could be improved: I didn't like the road noise particularly. I can't really knock the space on...

Location and the breakfast was really good 🙏👍
David from Canada (January 22, 2026)
It was very conveniently located in front of my conference hotel and the price was substantially lower. The staff were ever so friendly and the bar was quite quiet and nice to chill every evening. What could be improved: The tap in the toilet wouldn't stop running, and the vent would make a noise every now and then but it was nothing toooo...

Beautiful building in a good location.
What could be improved: Thin walls, I could hear my “neighbors” and the traffic outside.
