First Impressions
When I first walked into Dreams Dominicus La Romana Resort & Spa, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from another all-inclusive on the Dominican coast. But this five-star property surprised me — there’s something genuinely refined about the way they’ve designed the place. The lobby opens right up to views of Playa de Bayahibe, and you can actually feel the ocean breeze from the moment you arrive. It’s luxury done right, without being stuffy about it.
The Bayahibe Advantage
Here’s what most people don’t realize about Bayahibe — it’s positioned perfectly for exploring both the beach and some serious natural beauty. The resort sits right on one of the most pristine stretches of sand I’ve seen in the DR, but you’re also just a short boat ride from Saona Island. I mean, half the guests spend their days lounging by the infinity pools, but the other half are out discovering Cotubanamá National Park. The location gives you options, which I appreciate.
Accommodations That Actually Deliver
My room was in one of the newer sections — spacious, with a marble bathroom and a balcony that looked straight out to the Caribbean. The bed was comfortable (something you can’t always count on at resorts), and the air conditioning actually worked well. What I liked most was the attention to detail: quality linens, a stocked minibar that gets refreshed daily, and enough outlets for all your devices. Small things, but they add up when you’re staying for a week.
Dining and Activities
The food scene here is honestly better than I expected from an all-inclusive. The main restaurant serves decent international fare, but the Japanese spot — Himitsu — is where you want to make reservations. Fresh sashimi in the Caribbean sounds weird, but they pull it off. The spa treatments are worth booking too, especially if you go for the outdoor massage pavilions. And if you’re into water sports, the dive shop can get you out to some really solid reef sites just offshore.

The staff remembers your name, the grounds are impeccably maintained, and there’s enough variety in activities that you won’t get bored. Clean, modern, well maintained. Beds and pillows were super comfy. Beautiful beach with white sand and crystal clear turquoise water. Food was good, plentiful and varied.
