Honestly, I wasn’t prepared for how stunning Charming Luxury Lodge & Private Spa would be when I first pulled up the winding road at kilometer 7.5 along Bustillo. The five-star property sits right on the shores of Nahuel Huapi Lake, and I mean right on it — you can practically touch the water from some of the terraces. What struck me immediately was how they’ve managed to create this sense of complete privacy while still being close enough to San Carlos de Bariloche’s center that you’re not stranded. The architecture feels authentically Patagonian without being kitschy, if you know what I mean.

What’s brilliant is that you get all this natural beauty, but downtown Bariloche is still just a quick drive away when you want to explore the chocolate shops or grab dinner at one of the local parrillas. The free private parking is actually a bigger deal than you might think — finding secure parking in Bariloche can be a real headache, especially during peak season.
