First Impressions

You know what hits you first at CasaMolle? The silence. I mean, you’re literally surrounded by vineyards in the Elqui Valley, so there’s this incredible sense of being completely removed from everything — but you’re actually just minutes from Vicuña’s center. The four-star property sits on Fundo la Barrica, which honestly sounds more romantic in Spanish than any translation could capture. When I pulled up (free parking, by the way, which is clutch), the building felt like someone’s sophisticated country estate rather than a traditional hotel.

The Elqui Valley Setting

Here’s the thing about this location — couples absolutely love it, and I get why. The Elqui Valley is Chile’s pisco country, and CasaMolle puts you right in the heart of it without feeling touristy. You can walk to several distilleries, and the views toward the Andes are honestly spectacular. What I didn’t expect was how the clear skies here make it one of the world’s best stargazing spots. The hotel staff actually knows this and can point you toward the best viewing areas on the property after dinner.

The Rooms

My room had this perfect balance — modern comfort but with enough local character that you remember you’re in Chile’s wine country. The windows frame the vineyard views beautifully, and there’s something really satisfying about waking up to rows of grapevines stretching toward the mountains. The beds are genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the bathrooms feel updated without being sterile. What I appreciated most was the attention to lighting — you can actually read comfortably in the evening, which sounds basic but so many hotels get wrong.

Food and Wine Experience

The restaurant leans heavily into local ingredients, which makes sense given you’re surrounded by farms and vineyards. Their pisco selection is obviously excellent — I mean, you’d hope so in this region — but they also do a nice job with local wines that you probably haven’t tried before. Breakfast has fresh fruit that actually tastes like something, and they source a lot from nearby producers. It’s not fancy in a showy way, but everything feels thoughtful and connected to where you are.

Why Guests Love It

That 9.8 rating isn’t an accident. CasaMolle manages to feel both peaceful and engaging — you can completely disconnect if that’s what you need, or use it as a base for exploring pisco distilleries, hiking, or even day trips to La Serena. The staff seems to genuinely enjoy helping guests discover the valley, and they’re not pushing expensive tours or anything like that. It’s the kind of place where you end up staying an extra night because leaving feels premature. For couples especially, there’s something about the combination of wine country romance and genuine hospitality that just works.
