First Impressions
When you first pull up to CasaMolle, tucked away on a dirt road outside Vicuña, you’ll probably wonder if your GPS got confused. This boutique property sits on what feels like the edge of the world — surrounded by rolling hills and vineyards with the Andes looming in the distance. The approach is deliberately understated, but once you step inside, you realize this place operates on a completely different level than your typical hotel.
The Equestrian Experience
What sets CasaMolle apart is how seamlessly they’ve woven horseback riding into the whole experience. The stables aren’t just an afterthought — they’re integral to what this place is about. I spent mornings riding through the Elqui Valley, following trails that wind between pisco distilleries and ancient vineyards. The horses are well-trained and clearly loved, and the guides know every hidden corner of the valley. You can arrange everything from gentle sunset rides to full-day adventures up into the foothills.
Accommodation & Atmosphere
My room was honestly more like a private retreat — spacious, thoughtfully designed, with huge windows that frame the valley views perfectly. The architecture blends contemporary touches with traditional Chilean elements, and there’s this sense of being completely disconnected from the outside world. The property only has a handful of rooms, so it never feels crowded. You’ll often find yourself sharing the common areas with maybe two other couples, which creates this intimate, almost house-party vibe.
Food & Local Flavors
The restaurant sources most ingredients from their own gardens and local producers — you can actually taste the difference. Breakfast features fresh bread, local cheeses, and eggs from their chickens, while dinner might include lamb that was raised just down the valley. They do an excellent job incorporating pisco into both cocktails and cooking, which makes sense since you’re in the heart of pisco country. The chef clearly understands the region and isn’t trying to be overly fancy — just really good food that reflects where you are.
Why Guests Love It
What I keep thinking about is how CasaMolle manages to feel both rustic and refined without trying too hard. The 9.8 rating makes perfect sense when you experience the attention to detail — from the way they coordinate riding schedules around your preferences to the evening stargazing sessions (the Elqui Valley has some of the clearest skies in the world). It’s the kind of place where you come for the horses but end up loving everything else just as much. The isolation might seem daunting at first, but that’s exactly what makes it special — you’re completely immersed in this landscape that most travelers never get to experience.

The area was remote and beatiful. Could see the volcano and sit by the water with drinks or coffee. Staff amazing and remembers you from day to day
