Honestly, when I first pulled up to Charming Luxury Lodge & Private Spa on Bustillo Avenue, I wasn’t quite prepared for what I was walking into. This five-star property sits about 7.5 kilometers from downtown San Carlos de Bariloche, and the moment you step inside, you realize this isn’t just another lakeside hotel — it’s more like someone’s impossibly elegant private retreat that they’ve decided to share with the world.
The Setting
The location along Bustillo is actually perfect if you know the area. You’re far enough from the tourist crowds in the city center, but close enough that you can easily drive in for dinner or shopping when you feel like it. What really gets you though is how the lodge sits in relation to Nahuel Huapi — the lake views from here are just ridiculous, especially in the late afternoon when the Andes catch that golden light. I mean, you could sit on their terrace for hours just watching the water change colors.
Luxury in Every Detail
Each room here feels more like a luxury suite, and I’m not exaggerating. The attention to detail is what you’d expect from a place with a 9.6 rating — think handpicked furnishings, marble bathrooms, and those little touches that make you feel like you’re staying somewhere truly special. The private spa element isn’t just a marketing gimmick either; they actually have therapists who know what they’re doing, and the treatment rooms overlook the mountains in a way that’s almost unfair to other spas.
Dining Experience
The restaurant situation here surprised me — in the best way. Instead of trying to be everything to everyone, they focus on showcasing Patagonian ingredients with this refined approach that actually works. The chef clearly understands the region, and you can taste it in everything from the trout preparations to how they handle the local game meats. Breakfast is served until a civilized hour too, which I appreciated after those long Bariloche evenings.

Amazing location and cozy atmosphere. The room size was great and the breakfast was excellent.
What could be improved: The windows in the room were a bit drafty, the exterior sauna by the pool wasn’t working properly and the bath in our room slowly lost water.
