Le Couvent des Minimes, un Hôtel & Spa L’Occitane en Provence Overview
First Impressions
Walking through the stone archways of Le Couvent des Minimes, un Hôtel & Spa L’Occitane en Provence, you immediately understand why this place has such a devoted following. This converted 17th-century convent sits quietly in Mane, tucked into the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence hills where lavender fields stretch endlessly. The five-star property feels more like discovering a secret than checking into a hotel — honestly, I walked past it twice before spotting the discreet entrance.
The Rooms and Suites
Each room tells its own story through original stone walls and vaulted ceilings, though what really struck me was how they’ve managed to blend historical architecture with serious luxury. The suites overlook either the herb gardens or the surrounding countryside, and you know what? Those garden views are actually my preference — there’s something magical about watching the morning mist lift off the lavender while you’re still in bed. The bathrooms are stocked with L’Occitane products (obviously), but it’s the heated floors that’ll make you never want to leave.
Equestrian Adventures
The horse riding here isn’t just an add-on activity — it’s thoughtfully curated. They work with local stables to offer trail rides through the Luberon region, and I mean proper trails that wind through olive groves and up to viewpoints most tourists never see. The guides actually know the area’s history and will point out ancient Roman ruins or explain which herbs the monks used to grow. You can arrange everything from gentle morning rides to full-day excursions, depending on your experience level.
Dining and Wellness
The restaurant sources heavily from their own gardens and local producers — I’m talking vegetables picked that morning and herbs you can smell growing just outside the windows. It’s Michelin-quality cooking without the stuffiness, served in what used to be the convent’s refectory. The spa deserves its own mention too; treatments incorporate L’Occitane’s signature ingredients, and there’s this incredible outdoor treatment pavilion where you can hear nothing but birdsong and wind through the pine trees.
Why Guests Love It
What sets this place apart is how it balances luxury with authenticity — you’re staying in a genuine piece of Provençal history, not some themed resort. The staff treats you like house guests rather than hotel customers, and parking is tucked away so discretely you’d never know cars exist. For horse riding enthusiasts, it’s perfectly positioned for exploring the region on horseback, but even if you never mount a horse, the property itself offers enough tranquility and beauty to justify the journey. This isn’t a place for Instagram stories — it’s for actually disconnecting and remembering why you fell in love with travel in the first place.

What could be improved: A beautiful and stylish hotel with spacious, clean rooms and a calm atmosphere — everything feels five-star. However, there are no restaurants of the same level nearby, so guests naturally expect to dine in the hotel restaurant. Unfortunately, most tables were reserved for outside visitors, and hotel guests couldn’t get a...

The location was beautiful and the spa was fantastic
What could be improved: I don’t think anything could be better, it is perfect
Aaron from France (9 August 2025)
Beautifully restored with a genuine spiritual harmony. The spa facilities are fantastic.
What could be improved: The second day the spa was overcrowded and there were a lot of cars parked outside indicating they open it to day passes.
Tanguy from France (3 August 2025)
Overall the property is of outstanding beauty Staff / service is excellent Facilities (spa, pool, rooms…) are incredible Food is delicious What could be improved: Everything was outstanding; some recommendations to make it perfect: - The spa closes a little early (7pm), 8pm would be nice + it is tricky to find availability for massages in the...

The overall experience and the attention to detail and beautiful renovation coupled with one of the best spa experiences we’ve been to in a long time, we’ve already talked about coming back ! This hotel is absolutely a 5 * hotel.

The best place we have ever stayed, from the beautiful decor to the hospitality of staff. The spa was also excellent and there was a great variety of food options at breakfast. Cannot fault this hotel.

Beautiful hotel in an idyllic setting.
What could be improved: We had a nightmare journey (Air Traffic Control strike). We arrived at 2 am on Saturday morning instead of 2pm on Friday after travelling for 20 hrs. I asked for a 2pm check-out on Sunday. Was told ‘It is not possible’. No explanation given. It would certainly have been a kindness.
